As of October 25, 2023, the sesame seed inventory at Huangdao Port, China, has reached 146.70 thousand metric tons (mt), representing a month-on-month (MoM) increase of 47.14%. This increase is attributed to two primary factors: the arrival of sesame seeds from Pakistan and reduced trading activities due to the historically high prices. Dealers have not displayed any inclination toward reducing prices despite the growing inventory. This can be attributed to the high import cost, which leaves no room for a price drop. It is anticipated that the inventory will continue growing in the upcoming weeks as a significant amount of sesame seeds from Pakistan will arrive at the port in the next few weeks. The price is expected to keep a relatively flat trend pattern.
