Our Dried Chickpea from Tanzania
Tridge offers high-quality Chickpea sourced from Tanzania.
Tanzania is Africa’s leading chickpea exporter, exporting 117,782 MT of Chickpeas annually. The country mainly exports to India, Pakistan, UAE, Singapore, South Africa, Qatar, and Japan. We’re well-established in the key production region, such as the Lake Zone area, the Northern Corridor of Tanzania (Arusha, Manyara, and Dodoma Regions), and the Southern region, Lindi, Mtwara.
Tridge’s chickpeas are prepared and processed in Dar es Salaam straight from buying centers in the production regions, mainly in the Lake Zone Area, Arusha, Mtwara, and Lindi.
Tridge’s chickpeas are sustainably sourced from over 90,000 smallholder farmers in the Lake Zone, the Northern Highlands Zone, and Southern parts of Tanzania. They are freshly harvested and processed under the guidelines of good post-harvest practices to assure the supply of top-quality chickpeas. The production process includes sourcing and quality inspection of the chickpeas, drying, grading, sorting, cleaning, and packaging.
The chickpea is collected through government-controlled collection centers in regions such as Shinyanga, Mwanza, and Manyara, then transported to Dar es Salaam, cleaned and bagged into 50-kilo bags.
After the cleaning and bagging it is then packed into 20 and 40-ton containers, which are transported to shipping lines for onward shipment to export destinations through the Dar es Salaam Port.
The main harvesting and marketing period occurs from August-November.
