Decreased exports in 2020 for Hake

The two most exported Hake products have diminished their sales abroad in the first 8 months of 2020. As for filets, the difference reaches 18% in volume and 28% in foreign currency; A total of 35K tones were exported for U$D 97M, and the product suffered a drop in the average price of 11.5%. The main export market for this product (Brazil) demanded 17,5% less than in 2019, totaling a reduction in terms of income of 27%. Second in line as destination market is Spain, to which 8% less was exported signifying a drop in collection of 10%. Poland fell in terms of volume a whopping 53.5% reducing incomes for about 58%.
In the case of frozen Hake, the second most exported product, the drop was not so pronounced. A little less than 24K tons were sold reaching U$D 34M. This implies a 7% reduction in terms of volume and 15% in terms of collection and the product suffered a drop in the average price of 9%. The main destination for frozen Hake is Russia which demanded 30% more than last year, but, due to low international prices, collection fell by 21%. Spain, on the other hand, bought 14% less and incomes fell by 20.5%.
