The local supply of palm oil in Cameroon has increased from 343,000 tons in 2014 and it is expected to reach 450,000 tons in 2020.
Despite this increase, there is still a large gap between the processors’ real needs and national production. Cameroon will have to import 90,000 tons of crude palm oil in 2020 to guarantee supply for refiners this year as there is a yearly structural deficit estimated at 130,000 tons.
Imported palm oil is exempted from value added tax and customs duties at 5%.
