Local suppliers of Malaysia believe that the Indonesian coconut is of lower quality in comparison to the local coconut. Usually, the Indonesian coconuts are young coconuts which are collected a long time before being shipped to Malaysia. The storage and shipping takes 3-4 weeks which deteriorates the quality. By the time shipment arrives in Malaysia, 20% of the total quantity cannot be used.
