To incorporate technology in the agriculture industry, especially in the vast tea and coffee estates in West Java, the local agricultural agency and a number of leading producers in the area are in conversation to utilize drones in the production process. In particular, the drones would be used in the gathering of information in terms of giving the farmers a birds-eye-view in monitoring the health of the crops in the vast plantation estate. Moreover, the drones will also be used in the fertilization of the crops where the process will be done by spraying the liquid fertilizer with the drones that have been equipped with sprayers. The early stage of this initiative is expected to happen during the production season in October, with the full-scale operation is targeted to take place as early as January 2021.
