Malaysian suppliers feel need to restock rice and corn

As of March 25, it has been observed that several countries have taken steps to protect the security of food supply in their respective countries by temporarily implementing export cessation orders namely Vietnam (rice), Kazakhstan (wheat flour) and Serbia (cooking oil and daily essentials). Russia is also considering export restrictions depending on current developments. Malaysian suppliers feel like this indicates that Malaysia should also be prepared to increase the stockpile of food stocks such as rice and corn. Malaysia depends on almost 30% of rice imports from Vietnam and Thailand, otherwise increasing Malaysia's domestic stock supply will result in short supply if COVID outbreak
