Following the arrival of additional stock of Sungold kiwi fruits from New Zealand earlier this week, the price of this commodity in the modern retailers in the major cities of Indonesia is showing a downward trajectory. Previously, in the span of April to May 2020, the price of kiwi recorded its highest average price in 2020 at IDR 150.000/Kg. Currently, the price of this kiwi variety is at IDR 120.000/Kg. Aside from the increasing supply of this fruit in the market, the price correction has also been mostly driven by the slowing down of the demand for kiwi from the local buyers. A number of national importers predicted that if the demand keeps slowing down in the third quarter of 2020, it is possible that the price can go down even further to IDR 95.000/Kg, which is the lowest average price they can offer to the market.
