In the first quarter of 2020, cassava exports increased by 48% in volume compared to the same period last year. The average price this year was USD 221 per ton. China was the main importer of Vietnamese cassava in 2020 first quarter, accounting for 91% of Vietnam's total exports. Also, the total export of cassava and cassava products to China increased by 17% with a price increase of 10% compared to 2019. Currently, cassava products have many opportunities as the Chinese side is trying to revive the pig industry after the African swine pandemic, leading to an increase in feed demand. Cassava export prices continue to rise due to scarcity in China due to widespread of cassava leaf mosaic. Therefore, this country's cassava output may decline sharply when many areas are lost.
