A combination of factors give rise to the price of canned goods in Thailand

2020 saw an uptick in exports of canned products from Thailand as the world went into lockdown, preferring tinned/canned food for safety and longer shelf life

However, Thai manufacturers have to pass on the increased price of tins from China (up 17% from 2019) to customers while at the same time they are grappling with the surge in freight costs (up by almost 400%) from Thailand to North America (a key market) leading to Thai businesses losing American customers in competition with Ecuador and Peru.
