African swine fever: 210 new outbreaks have been reported worldwide in 13 days

According to the World Organization for Animal Health, new or ongoing outbreaks have been recorded in 25 countries. The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) reported that 210 new outbreaks of African swine fever were reported worldwide between 24 July and 6 August, compared to 441 new cases seen in the previous survey. The total number of outbreaks in progress rose from 7,030 to 7,176, 3,589 in Romania and 1,472 in Vietnam.

According to the OIE, new or ongoing outbreaks have been recorded in 25 countries. In Europe, Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine still have the incidence of the disease. In Asia, China, India, Indonesia, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Russia, East Timor and Vietnam have ongoing cases.

In Africa, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia report the presence of the virus. During the survey's coverage period, losses of 2,728 animals were reported, a much lower number than reported in the previous bulletin, of 13,071 animals eliminated.

Most of that number was observed in Africa, with the slaughter of 2,336 animals, mainly in Zambia, where 2,336 animals were lost. In Europe, Romania recorded losses of 234 animals, followed by Russia, with 107, and Ukraine, with 14.
