Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway both posted record Q3 grain shipments. Increased railcar capacity and strong COVID-related international demand are two of the driving forces behind this. Canadian National shipped 7.76 million tonnes of grain by rail in Q3 and has increased its number of grain cars by 1,500. Canadian Pacific moved 7.72 million tonnes in Q3 and increased its number of grain cars by 3,200. This is great news for farmers, exporters, and importers alike as Canada's strong railway structure continues to support food supply around the world.
