Taiwan's domestic demand for tuna has decreased due to the COVID restaurant take-out only policy. The Taiwanese tuna fishery companies are cutting back the supply by reducing the total number of fisher boats to avoid over-supply. Therefore, tuna processing factories are facing the high price of yellow-fin tuna for export and a shortage of raw material. According to a processor/exporter of yellow-fin tuna in Taiwan, they are in shortage of raw material so they have to find other raw materials such as milkfish and discover new customer base to survive.
