With regards to agriculture, 2022 will be remembered for its heat waves and drought, which have impacted production across multiple products, including wine. The 2022 Italian wine harvest is estimated to be 10-15% less than 2021, but the grapes are of excellent quality.

The surge in electricity and other production costs have boosted the price of Italian wine by 13% YoY compared to September 2021. Nevertheless, there has been no big impact on the volume of exports which have kept slightly growing by 0.4%. In the first semester of 2022 Italy reached the highest value of wine export sales for a total of EUR 3,8 Billion.
