Farmers From Chelyabinsk, Russia Expect Record Oilseed Harvest

For the second year in row farmers from the Chelyabinsk region of Russia are increasing the sowing area for oilseeds including sunflower seed, rapeseed, and flaxseed. The region’s oilseed harvest reached 197,0000MT in 2021 indicating a 60% increase compared to 2020. For the 2022 season the harvest is expected to increase further to reach a record yield of 250,000MT of oilseeds. Farmers from two districts within the region where the harvest has commenced report that the yield is higher than expected.
