Huangdao Port’s Sesame Seed Trade Activity And Inventory Surge During W46

As of November 15, 2023, the Huangdao Port in China recorded a sesame seed inventory of 156.70 thousand metric tons (mt), marking a 19.80% month-on-month (MoM) and 21.15% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Trade activities for sesame seeds from Pakistan, Tanzania, and Mozambique saw an uptick during W46, driven by heightened demand. Prices experienced a slight increase of USD 6.93 to 13.87/mt (RMB 50 to 100/mt), and due to escalating sourcing costs, prices are anticipated to persist at the current elevated levels.
