The disease outbreak caused a loss of yield, the risk of imbalance and lack of raw materials. It is not allowed to build more tapioca starch factories in Vietnam because the current cassava production only meets 60-70% of the operating capacity of the existing factories. Traders scramble to buy cassava root materials imported from Cambodia, leading to a high price of cassava in Vietnam. The price of Vietnam tapioca starch is higher than before. The FOB price was USD 540 per MT on week 47 and USD 750 per MT on week 49.
