Following a ban from China, Japan has adjusted its strategy for exporting frozen scallop meat, redirecting shipments of frozen raw scallops to the United States (US) and Taiwan and routing them through Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam and Thailand. According to data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance, the export price of frozen raw scallops in shell reached USD 1.65 per kilogram (JPY 225/kg) in May-24. Notably, exports to Vietnam surged 831% year-on-year (YoY), reaching 1.9 thousand tons.
