Wheat harvest in South Africa has been the highest this year in the past 10 years. The expected average yield this year was 3.8t/ha which is more than the yield of 2.7t/ha in 2019. Over the past 5 years, South Africa has imported 51% of its annual wheat consumption which comes from countries such as Germany, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine. This above-average yield indicates that imports of wheat to South Africa will drop over the next 12 months or more.
