The chilean Lupin as a product for exportation has two varities the sweet and bitter, the bitter lupine is not recomended for direct human nor animal consumption since a high level of toxicity can be found in their alkaloids. On the other hand sweet lupin can be safely consumed by animals and one of the main usage for the product would be for animal forage to grazing livestock and mainly applied at feed stalls. The trending price in chile for bitter lupin starts from 500 USD/mt and going up to 900 USD/MT. Recently the sweet variety has had a considerable increase in their price starting from 750 USD/MT up to 1500 USD/MT.
