As a result of the financial losses faced by melon and watermelon producers because of the logistics crisis and production price increases during the 2022 season, terms and conditions for the 2023 season negotiations changed. In previous years traders and wholesalers had to cover between 30% to 35% of the total value of the season in advance, but for the upcoming season, the producers consider more aggressive terms with payments from 60% to 80% in advance. These negotiation terms are changing for new clients or clients that have held contracts for less than three years. Long-term clients will maintain the conditions previously negotiated.
