Since cabbage can only be grown in the highlands, Malaysia often imports it from China and Indonesia to supply the local market due to the lack of highlands to plant vegetables. However, Malaysia is now beginning to use lowland crop technology for cabbage and may reduce dependence on imports. If only with crops in the highlands, Malaysia can supply 80K MT of cabbage/year, thus, with the new technology to grow cabbage in the lowlands, the total supply is expected to increase by 40%.
