The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has shutdown seed potato exports from Prince Edward Island to the United States after finding potato wart fungus in soil samples from two farms. The disease isn't a food safety concern but can cause disfiguration making the product unmarketable. The suspension only applies to seed potatoes destined for the US and does not affect table stock or potatoes used for processing. Inter-provincial trade is also not affected.
