Peruvian quinoa is now able to access the Colombian market

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri) announced that Peruvian producers will be able to export quinoa to Colombia after the agreement reached by the National Agrarian Health Service - SENASA with the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA ).

With this agreement, more than 20 thousand producers from the regions of Cusco, Puno, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junín and Arequipa will be able to export quinoa to a market where products with high nutritional value are highly consumed.

Peru is recognized as the world's leading quinoa exporter, having exceeded 51 thousand tons in shipments to more than 70 countries in 2019, including the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Chile, England, Germany , Mexico.

Colombia is one of the main markets in the region for our agricultural exports, with coffee (12,214 mt) and rice 37,339 mt) as top exported products.

SENASA continues to carry out the steps to obtain access for this product to Paraguay, Bolivia and Guatemala in the medium term.
