Zingiber officinale var. rubrum, a specific red ginger with distinct spiciness grown mostly in Java and a few eastern Indonesia provinces are seeing improved domestic demands due to the coming rainy season. Sorted red ginger price is expected to hit USD 2 per kg by Q1'22 far above other varieties such as elephant, yellow and emprit. Ginger is vastly consumed in Indonesia during the rainy season as it is a long-proven remedy to keep warm and boost immunity.
