According to the BRC-NielsenIQ Shop Price Index, retail price annual inflation accelerated up to 1.8% in February, from 1.5% in January. This is the highest rate of inflation since November 2011. Food inflation remained in February at 2.7% as in January. However, it is above the 12 and six-month average price growth rates of 0.7% and 1.6%, respectively, and is the highest since September 2013.

Increasing fertilizer and energy costs, lower harvests, and disruptions in global supply made fresh food inflation accelerate in February to 3.3%, up from 2.9% in January. This is above the 12- and 6-month average price growth rates of 0.4% and 1.7%, respectively.
