Sweet Potato Prices in Egypt Doubled in Nov-23 Due to Reduced Market Supply

Egypt's sweet potato price surged 100% month-on-month (MoM) from USD 194.17 per metric ton (mt) in Oct-23 to USD 388.34/mt in Nov-23. This increase was a result of farmers holding the product on the farm without harvesting, leading to a decreased amount available in the market and subsequently increasing demand, which contributed to the price hike. The low stock available in the market further contributed to the overall price increase.
