Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute Aims to Produce 20M Avocado Seedlings in 2023

Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) intends to produce 20M improved avocado seedlings in the 2022/23 season, which will be sold to farmers at a subsidised price of USD 0.85 (Tsh 2,000) per seedling to encourage the cultivation of the crop. This initiative intends to enhance avocado production in Tanzania as the demand for avocados is increasing both domestically and internationally, with China being a large potential market for the commodity.
