Tata region of Morocco will ban tomato and watermelon cultivation for water preservation

Morocco's government bans tomatoes and watermelon cultivation in Tata Region.Watermelon and tomatoes are known to be the most water-consuming crops in Morocco. On average, the production of 1kg of watermelon in Morocco requires 60 liters of water. To limit the damage to the hydraulic resources, the government decided in early March 2022 to give up watermelon and tomatoes cultivation in the Tata region after March.
