Since February 2023, the supply of domestic carrots has been unstable. It is due to the poor growing conditions in Tokushima Prefecture, which accounts for about 40% of the total supply. Due to the weather, the harvest should have started in mid-February 2023, but it was delayed by more than half a month. As a result, wholesale prices on March 1st were 48% higher than on the same day in 2022. Specifically, it was USD 1.17/kg in 2023 and USD 0.61/kg in W8. From mid-March 2023, the supply from Tokushima Prefecture is expected to stabilize, so the situation should improve.
