Following the recent report on the diminishing supply of industrial-level sea salt by the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia this week, the central government has issued a permit to open up another import of sea salt at around 125 KMT in January 2021. As the ministry pointed out, the national demand for industrial-grade sea salt (for usage in food and beverages manufacturer) would approximate to 300 KMT, an amount higher than that of which the national industry can produce, which is 175 KMT. Thus, importation would be needed in order to support this shortage.
