The President of the Republic of Mozambique has this week brought 4 new varieties of rice and 5 new varieties of Sweet potato to the District of Cuamba, in Niassa Province. The new varieties of Sweet Potato planted will be multiplied and farmed at a countrywide scale; the new variety of rice, however, is still at a trial phase and will be multiplied to be expanded only into the provinces of Sofala, Zambezia, and Nampula. With this expansion of food varieties, the government plans on primarily increasing the quality of nutrition in the country and create a financial return to producers.
