The downward trend of black pepper prices in Vietnam shows no signs of improvement due to the COVID pandemic. As the pandemic persists, the buying power from major markets such as the US and the European countries has decreased dramatically, decreasing global demand for this spice. The average pepper export price in July was estimated at USD 2,450 / ton, up 6.2% from June, but down 3.8% in value compared to July 2019. Generally for the first 7 months of 2020, the average export price of pepper was estimated at 2,168 USD / ton, down 15% over the same period in 2019.
