As the potato harvest in Ukraine exceeds the consumption of the domestic market during the harvesting season 2020/2021, prices are falling to a very low level. Ukrainian farmers need to use better seeds and harvesting technology to decrease the percentage of damaged potatoes, which is around 40% now. The rate of the ones of poor quality can be reduced to 5%, and it is possible to be realized in the short term, almost in one season.

Now, Ukraine fulfills its obligations under the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, particularly on adapting national legislation to the pan-European one in terms of the potato harvest. The issue of the need to appoint an inspection of European experts in 2022 to open the export of Ukrainian potatoes to the EU is being discussed with European colleagues.
