The fresh fruits and vegetable exporters in Greece have suffered from delayed vessel arrival and lack of available containers during the last 15 days. Export programs of perishable vegetables were canceled and lots of containers of kiwi and apples were stockpiled at the container harbor of Piraeus in Greece, waiting for staffing of delayed vessels.
On top of the higher cost of freight rates and increased product costs, importers should now deal also with delivery discrepancies and probabilities of product loss due to delays.
