Bird nest export is new commodity for Malaysia

Although the swiftlet nest market is still new in Malaysia, the swiftlet nest harvesting has become a large-scale plantation industry as it can provide very lucrative returns due to its exotic value. This is because with demand of more than 35K MT / year globally, global bird nest suppliers can only supply less than half of the demand. This makes many suppliers in Malaysia start a bird's nest business which currently has an average price per KG is RM3K-RM4.5K.
