In the 2025/2026 season, apple production in the leading countries of the European Union will remain almost at the level of last year – 10.5 million tons, which is only 0.1% less. But this figure is 7.5% lower than the average yield over the past 3 and 5 years. This is reported by SadyOgrody.pl with reference to the World Association of Apple and Pear Producers (WAPA). Poland, as the largest apple producer in the region, expects a harvest of over 3.3 million tons – over 3% more than last year (3.19 million tons). The Golden Delicious variety will reduce its share by 0.9% (2.06 million tons), Gala will remain stable – 1.43 million tons. Red Delicious and Idared, on the contrary, will lose significantly: by 19.2% and 8.8%, respectively. WAPA analysts attribute the decline in yields to climate change, the shift to lower-yielding varieties, the development of organic horticulture and other structural changes in the industry.
