In January, Australia saw a significant shift in its barley exports, with a nearly fourfold increase in malting barley exports to 73.65 thousand tons, primarily to Vietnam and Mexico, despite this figure being below the average export rate from the previous year. Conversely, fodder barley exports experienced a 41% decrease to 549.45 thousand tons, with the majority of this exported to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the UAE. Despite these changes, market operators anticipate that the trend of export rates being lower than the previous year's average will persist due to a strong demand for Australian feed wheat in Asian markets.
