In 2021, Azerbaijan saw a 18.9% increase in the production of greenhouse tomatoes, reaching a total of 343.106 tons. Despite this, the number of greenhouses in the country decreased by 1.8% with an overall increase in acreage by 13.3%. Other vegetables such as cucumbers, bell peppers, and French beans also saw increases in production, while eggplants, mushrooms, spring onion, cabbage, garlic, and strawberries experienced decreases. The majority of the vegetables were grown in the greenhouse regions of Shamkir, Absheron, Salyansk, Samukh, Kyurdamir, Tovuz, Ganzhigabul, and Sabirabad, with a total of 20.2 thousand tons yielded in January 2022.
