The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) in Thailand has introduced insurance programs to financially protect cattle farmers from losses due to Lumpyskin disease, an emerging disease affecting cattle and buffaloes in the country. The Dairy Cattle Insurance Program and the Beef Cattle Insurance Program offer coverage for death due to illness or accidents, as well as damages from natural disasters, up to a certain amount. The dairy insurance requires the cow to have a health certificate and is valid for a year, while the beef cattle insurance is valid for six months or until the middle stall is sold. Farmers interested in these insurance plans can apply at any BAAC branch.
