For 2024, Mexico's Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) anticipates a poblano chile production of 405,143 tons, largely contributed by Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Sinaloa, Jalisco, and Baja California Sur, to support the traditional dish, chile en nogada. The dish, symbolizing the Mexican flag with its colors and ingredients, includes walnuts, pomegranates, and criollo apples and peaches. These fruits' production values and leading states are also highlighted, with walnuts being crucial for the dish and pomegranates adding sweet-acid balance, while criollo apples and peaches complete the dish's flavor profile.
