The first half of 2021 saw a notable recovery in Colombia's beef and live bovine exports, with beef sales reaching USD 98.4 million and live bovine exports bringing in USD 83.2 million, according to the Colombian Federation of Ranchers (Fedegán). Despite a dip during a national strike, both categories experienced growth compared to the previous years. Chile, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Egypt, and Russia were the leading buyers of Colombian beef, while Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon were the main importers of live cattle. Despite challenges like vandalism and road blockages, Fedegán remains hopeful, predicting USD 400 million in exports by year-end.
