Colombia invoiced USD 181.6 million in exports of meat and live animals in the first semester

External sales of beef and live bovine animals registered a significant rebound during the first six months of 2021, totaling USD 98.4 million and USD 83.2 million respectively. This was revealed by the Office of Planning and Economic Studies of the Colombian Federation of Ranchers (Fedegán) based on figures published by DANE. The indicators show that, in the case of meat, the months with the highest foreign sales were February and March of this year with USD 20.5 million and USD 20.4 million, respectively. José Félix Lafaurie Rivera, executive president of Fedegán, affirmed that during the months of May and June, which coincided with the national strike, vandalism and road blockages, exports fell but were above the amounts of 2018, 2019 and 2020.
