South Korea is revising its country-of-origin (COO) labeling regulations for food products to address issues of unfairness to manufacturers of imported products. The revisions will standardize the font size of COO labels for both domestic and imported products at size 10, and will also change the location requirements for online e-commerce COO labels. The public comment period for these changes is open until June 19, 2023. In addition, the country is taking steps to improve the accuracy of COO declarations and to crack down on false declarations, including stricter penalties for repeat offenders.
