The decline of the buffalo industry in Taiwan can be attributed to factors such as the underdeveloped agricultural machinery industry, the unpopularity of buffalo meat due to its texture, and the increasing use of mechanization in farming. To protect the Taiwanese buffalo and its cultural value, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to develop strategies such as selective breeding and the application of frozen semen technology. Additionally, efforts are being made to promote the utilization of buffalo meat, including the production of butter soap and buffalo feed from agricultural by-products.
