The Korean beef market is facing a serious supply-demand imbalance due to an oversupply of Hanwoo beef, with the number of breeding animals reaching a record high of 3.57 million. This has led to a significant decrease in wholesale beef prices, which are expected to continue to fall. In order to stabilize the market, the government is encouraging farmers to reduce their herds by 140,000 cows in the first half of next year. Participating farms will be supported with shipment incentives.
