February 2023 saw a notable increase in the trade of fruits and vegetables in Serbia, with a significant rise in the imports of frozen berries, such as raspberries and strawberries, and potatoes. Local producers in Serbia managed to set new export records for lettuce and carrots. The country imported over 224 tons of frozen potatoes, mostly from Belarus and Austria, due to a shortage in the domestic market. Serbian carrot producers achieved record exports of 2.67 thousand tons, primarily to other Balkan countries. Lettuce sales also hit a record of 709 tons, with Romania being the main buyer. However, there was a notable decrease in the export of apples, while imports increased significantly, mainly from North Macedonia.
