In November 2022, Serbia experienced a significant shift in its foreign fruit and vegetable trade, with record imports of Brussels sprouts and exports of cauliflower and broccoli. Brussels sprouts imports reached a historic high of 279 tons, a 23-fold increase from the previous year, mainly from the Netherlands and Germany. Cauliflower and broccoli exports tripled, finding new markets in the Netherlands in addition to Spain and Italy. Lettuce exports also saw an increase, with Russia and Hungary as the main buyers. However, the energy crisis impacted the greenhouse industry, leading to a five-year low in greenhouse sweet pepper exports. Meanwhile, Serbian hazelnut exporters achieved a record breakthrough, doubling last year's sales and exporting a record 343 tons to mainly Italy. There was also a notable decrease in hazelnut imports.
