Despite a nationwide recession and a 14.37% decrease in milk production in January 2023 compared to the same period last year due to challenges such as missile strikes, destroyed logistics chains, and increased production costs, agricultural enterprises in the western and central regions of Ukraine have increased milk and beef production. This increase is attributed to the movement of livestock from conflict-affected areas. However, the war has led to a decrease in the herd of cattle and cows, and the demand for dairy products exceeds supply in Europe, leading to unprofitability. Despite these challenges, there is a demand for beef and a shortage of cattle for slaughter globally. Ukraine has increased its export of live weight cattle.
