Hungary: Frost and temperature fluctuations took three quarters of the apricot crop

In the spring, there was a frost at the worst possible time for apricot growers, and the damage is already visible. Due to the spring frosts, the cooling during the flowering period, and the large temperature fluctuations, only a quarter of the usual amount of Hungarian apricots will be available on the market this year, according to the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) and FruitVeB, the Hungarian Vegetable and Fruit Association. They calculate that this year the producers can harvest only 7-8 thousand tons of apricots, as compared to the average of good vintages, 70-80 percent less apricots were produced.
