The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in South Korea is releasing 1,879 tons of six types of fish from its government stockpile into the market to stabilize prices during the Lunar New Year holidays. The prices of these fish will be around 10 to 30% lower than the market price. The ministry will first supply these fish to traditional markets, large retailers, and home shopping platforms. Remaining stocks will be allocated to the wholesale market or electronic b2B market. The ministry will inspect traditional markets to ensure the items are sold at the recommended price. This initiative is part of the 'Korea Fisheries War, Special Warfare for New Year' to stabilize prices and promote seafood consumption during the peak season.
